Just Alittle Bit Longer

So here I am, in Singapore, one of the most diverse and exotic countries in the world. Everyday is one more day of lessons on culture, on visual banquets, on stimulating my taste buds and opening my mind to the idea that the world really isn't beyond my reach.
Each day I gather more courage to explore Singapore on my own. With the help of my kind and generous hostess, Maria and her good friend, Sofie...I can take the MRT (train) & bus system, as I have my own card. Equipped with a Singtel phone and Malay money, I roam the island in search of beautiful pictures. I have witnessed three traditional weddings and a birthday party. I can Salome (Malay gesture of greetings to show respect) and know a few Malay words. For sure, I can tell by the tone if something is up! lol
Yesterday, I rode the train downtown to Raffles City (another enormous shopping center) then walked around to the historic buildings of the British influence of which the famous Raffles Hotel was built in the late 1800's. The hotel was completely restored in 1991 to it's original glory. I walked about, up & down the verandas that circle the building taking pics, visited the many upscale shops inside, poked my nose at the some eight or so restaurants & bars within and stopped a bit at two of the in house museums. Since it was early in the afternoon and a weekday, I seemed to have free range...so I just strolled about as if I was a guest! It was a magical time for me to feel the spirit of the place and imagine what it must have been like to be from the upper class taking a holiday.
Well, I magically took my upper class self to the train station and rode back with thousands of others to the real world.
I'm doing some hard thinking about my life and it's boundaries I've placed on it. The world isn't closed to us...we close ourselves off from exploring the world. What and where is karma leading Queenie? Will I be content to stay in Fort Worth? Is this journey meant to entice me to travel or is it meant to satisfy my childhood curiosity for the unknown?
Mostly to satisfy my daughter's boyfriend than my need to an answer...we (Sara & I) were asked to extend our stay til July 11th. It will require some juggling of bill paying via online and a huge favor from my daughter-in-law but stay, we will. I've slowed my search for photo opts and just enjoying the journey, one step at a time.
I must admit, I do miss my own turf and family but I think this time will change me for the better.
Love to you all...Shara
