Zone

I was in the groove today, teaching away, pitching my spill in a syncopation that felt good.

Some of us (educators) call it, "being in the zone" where you feel as though you're channeling with some divine tempo that makes the lesson smooth. Eyes get larger, smiles break out into excitement and the energy flows rapidly back and forth between you (el guru) and your young charges. It's as though there are strings attached from you to them...all is in rhythm and balanced.
I'm telling you it's a rush, a high, an explosion in my brain that means we are connecting. This connection between humans is a strong drug, it keeps grown adults working in difficult situations, with impossible measurements to achieve, inadequate funds and few slaps on the back for a job well done! Today was a good day's work. I didn't drag too much homework home tonight, thought I would just think about the day and rejoice in it!
