Eight more sleeps til I'm on my way to Italy! I know I'm going on about this a bit more than necessary but I'm just a Cajun country girl who dreamed of traveling to Europe as a child of twelve. Obligations for family (raising six does take time and effort, not to mention money), bad choices (let's leave that for another posting OK) and just plain bad luck kept me grounded...literally LOL. Now in my 50's, the last child almost out of the nest and on my third divorce...I'm having another shot at becoming the artist I wanted to be so long ago. It may sound grandiose but I'm truly living my own life for the first time. It's very exciting and scary at the same time. My adventure as I see it, is rediscovering my child's dream again. Taking this trip is only the first step to independence and challenging myself to dream big again.
Today at school, we had some snow....well it's Texas and we don't get that white stuff so everyone was acting like Chicken Little & the sky was falling! Our highway system nor drivers are prepared for icy conditions so the first sign of ice....the people panic! Parents were getting children out of school early and I was asked to cancel my after school meeting with parents and students for parade preparations for the Imagination Celebration parade on Saturday. I have been so focused on work and deadlines that I haven't put anything aside for the trip or even given myself the pleasure of planning . The trip is only 8 days away....Yips! I've got to at list make sure I have clean underwear...lol...but really, I need to pack light, that's what everyone that has had international travel experience tells me and I don't need to reinvent the wheel so I plan to heed advice. So Queenie...my newest nickname from Jem...my newest best friend gave me...will start planning for her big day. Thanks for letting me share this with you all...I'm so grateful for the kind comments and thoughts you leave me. This has been a difficult time in my life but also one of the richest and most productive times ever...I think your comments have helped me tremendously. Kissies & Hugs to all...especially to Cookie, for without your intervention in my life, my eyes would still be closed!

Dear Shara,
Wow! eight more days!
I know "less luggage more comfortable" when you pack more stuff you cannot buy things from there...i think 70 pound is the luggage weight..
I really enjoyed your snow video..we suppose to have some snow today..
Take care
♥ & ((hugs))
bindi
Dear Shara,
I'm so excited for you! Eleven sleeps for me till we leave for Houston. But I must say, 8 sleeps till Italy is more thrilling! On packing light--most definitely the way to go and feel free--I always try and always fail. But I am getting better...You can definitely find what you need when you get there--you'd have a great time shopping for Italian shampoo and toothpaste, right?
I've missed catching up with your wonderful blog!
Eight more sleeps AND it is snowing in Texas ... wow i never thought i would see your surrounding area with a covering of snow... I hope you are well and eagerly look forward to your posting on the blog, take care and hugs and kisses abound .... Chat soon
I just found your blog through a link on a friends site. Im enthralled.
Where in Italy are you going?
My husband, and 2 yr old moved to Italy in Oct, from California. We live in Bologna. I am originally from NZ though. WE found it hard at first, winter is very cold and dreary, but its ITALY, you have to take the bad with the amazing.
Best of luck on your trip.

Oh how truly fantastic...ITALY! WHoooo! I wish I was going with you. I love to travel and I have only made it to England and Scotland. So much to explore!
Love the snow video it sounded windy and peaceful. Did you love it? So cool on the face and the coolness seems to clear the mind a bit too.
How long are you going to be there, and what parts of Italy? You should do a post on all that...where you will be staying and seeing! People like me would LOVE to know that. Oh how very exciting! I can't wait for you!
Hugs,
Robyn
Hey Texas sounds like Arkansas when the snow hits. But then again, our drivers can't drive in the rain either.
Hey, I just noticed, you have my friend Jeanetta's blog in your links. Do you know her? She and I have been friends for YEARS.
Bindi,
Yes, I hope to pack light as everyone who has traveled has said to do so! I do want to buy some extra memory for my camera instead of new clothes...Italy doesn't want to see me, I want to see Italy!
Did you get snow in Arkansas? You're really close to my mom and rest of my family who live in Texarkana, Texas. I plan on a visit to you after Italy trip...You've BEEN WARNED, LOL
Love you,
Shara
Leah is italian shampoo any different from Sauve...? lol I'm excited beyond myself. About Houston, are you visiting NASA, way cool place to go. I always get lost in Houston, sooo big and spread out but usually I'm heading for Galveston and Port Aransas area for the beach and sunshine. You should check it out too.
I'm going to be checking your blog for pics and the low down!
Shara
My dearest Duncan,
You are looking so well and yes I'm excited and have stolen your words (sleeps). What a wonderful impact your friendship has made on my life and growth as an individual, did I happen to thank you...thank you, Cookie! Of course, yes, I will keep you informed as you travel with me in spirit.
my love across the miles to you,
Shara
OH, MY GOD,ADAI,
I'm going to your neck of the woods (italian woods)! I'm so stoked....we're going to fly in to Bologna then bus to Reggio Emilia. I'm going to be there for a week! I would love to communicate or visit if possible.
Oh, and I have been checking out your log too, 365 for weeks now! Way Cool! This really is a small world.
I even more excited about this trip,
Shara
Oh, yes Robynn,
I'll post about the trip til you guys get sick of it then be sure to let me know to chill out! lol
I'm going to Reggio Emilia, top of the boot...will visit Florence on one of my free days, not sure if I want to go to Venice on the other free day as I would much rather to visit Rome! Rome for even a day is still the heart of Italy...they say, "Rome is Italy and Italy is Rome". What do I know ? Just a Cajun country girl with a huge curiousity gap to fill...at my age I guess that hole will never be filled!
Shara
Cecile, of course Arkansas is just like the Texas I know especially since I lived in the Arkansas/Texas border town of Texarkana, Texas/Arkansas for about 18 years. I love Arkansas...people should visit as the state is so naturally beautiful with all the lakes and camping areas to explore. While I'm visiting bindi...I would like to visit with you also. Are you two close to Little Rock or Hot Springs?...we need to gather together to chat it out!
Love to ya,
Shara
Cecile,
Wow...I love her post and no I don't know her but would love to! Who doesn't want to learn more about such talented people like you and she! this truly is a very small small world! Please put a good word in for me...I'm a fan!
hugs,
shara
Shara,
I live very close to LR. Bindi lives about 30 mins. from me. I bet we could work something out. I'll tell Jeanetta about her stardom and fan base. She is a hoot. She has been my friend for so many years. I am going to guess that it has been almost 18 years. Opps, I'm telling our age. Oh well. Talk to you soon.
Cecile
