Remember what it was like to be in your early twenties....full of hope for the future, energy, vitality and knowing it all! T'was a great time in my life when I felt immortal and that anything was possible with hard work and some luck. Ummmmmmmmmm!
Anyway my youth is behind me now but I really enjoy being apart of my six children's journey when given the opportunity. David is my second son and the child that I'm emotionally closest to in that we are sensitive to the feelings of others. Like my brother John, David attracts friends for life, cares deeps for others and gives of himself. Our kind is often judged as weak or overly emotional because we can express our feelings and give freely without expecting a payback. That part of us often bothers people who give only to get something in return. You see, if you really enjoy giving of yourself....that is the pay off! It's an internal thing between me and myself...if I reach out to someone, I already know the cost of rejection ...calculate that...then follow my heart.
So talking about following ones heart...David & Macee are on their way to Colorado for a ski trip. They drove in to Fort Worth from Texarkana, Texas last time. The three of us had dinner at Razoo's (cajun chain restaurant), watched football and chatted about how much fun they're going to have. This is their first really big vacation together. Only have one pic of them checking in baggage as the batteries in camera died...rats! Drove their car back to my place and will pick them up Friday at the airport. Told David I would take them out to dinner when they get back. He laughed and said, "Thanks, Mom, we'll be broke by then."
I can't wait to see the pictures and hear everything. You know that's a real important skill to have, "listening to others". When they return, they will be bursting with excitement and needing to tell someone for the memory to grow. Listening is a precious gift to give someone!
