I'm traveling on a train, moving at a very rapid pace. I try to look out the window but everything is out of focus at that speed, I can't really enjoy the scenery so I settle for the inside of my very small cabin. There in that tight space, I busy myself with useful and necessary things until the trip ends. The train begins to slow, the window suddenly becomes a Pandora's box of enticement. My coach gradually comes to a stop and I step out into a new world of choices. Like a child lead into a toy store, I run from one indulgence to the next desperately trying to gather as much feel good as I can absorb. This influx of bounty only frustrates me, leaves me nauseous and slightly giddy but not fulfilled. To eat an entire box of chocolates doesn't satisfy, it overwhelms your taste buds and soon your body rebels.
Slow down, pick one toy up, examine it well, experiment with it, enjoy it, master it and then look for another. Whatever time I have left to use is all that is necessary. Life has always been good, it will continue to be better if I live each moment as my last.
