from the tower

High above and overlooking the river, I can observe great distances from my bedroom window. I view the moving water, an occasional bird, the spotted traffic of joggers and bike riders on the path below, the landscape of a city is hidden by large groves of trees for I am isolated and protected within this tower of my own choosing. In my room, I can recover from life's wearing on my soul. In my room, I can gather myself to meet another day. And on occasion, I invite someone special to share this place with me.

This tower is real...has real as a third floor apartment can be and the fantasy of being a retreat is real....has real as anyone can make their bedroom an expression of who they are. Sharing my heritage with someone is my act of loving them...and so should you when you bestow your time and energy on someone.

Loving yourself should come first but it's not enough. The act of loving at it's purest should be effortless and without restraint. If you have to dialog or reason with yourself about the worthiness of your love interest then I would suggest that you are the one you love the most. Unconditional love is not for the weak....you have to have courage to open yourself to another without expectations. Another queen (Elizabeth) said recently, "Grief is the price we pay for love." Rather morbid! I prefer to believe that Joy can be the result of love if we are willing to bravely venture out.

This blog is my venture out of the tower is search of ....understanding who I am....who I want to be...and claiming and carving a spot for me and my soul mate.
